That's what we in the UK call a tax disc holder. Every vehicle here is supposed to display the road tax disc somewhere on the vehicle or else you can get a fine.
I never display mine, if the law stop me i tell them to give me a producer, which is when you go down to a designated police station and produce all the relevant documents to the desk sergeant for recording.

Yes, but I think a traffic can now give a fixed penalty fine for not displaying? I always make sure my tax disc is upside down though, so the traffic warden has to assume a ludicrous posture to check the details......

I'll keep the bike, After all the time spent on it, we've kind of 'bonded'! I always regretted selling (or having to sell) my previous XS1100's so I'd like to think I'll have this one for a long time.

The other one I'll be restoring is supposed to be for re-sale. The only problem is that, after I've done all the work, I'll probably not want to sell it!

Is that the 'plan', or just what you're telling SWMBO to make the second purchase go down easier?

My wife gave up on me long ago; while she gets irritated with all the 'stuff' that's always around, she does like the fact that she nearly always knows where I am.... in the shop!

That is absoulty one of the finest examples of a pristine machine! That was definatly a labor of love. I'm going to have to go off and find your build threads now. I mean it's simply breath taking. great job.

A big thank you to you and everyone else for the kind comments about the bike. I didn't want anyone to think I was showing off or being immodest and I know that a rebuild to 'standard' isn't everyone's ideal. It really is gratifying to know that other afficionados think I've done a good job. I also like the idea of the bike being good for another 30 years .... by which time it will be 61!

The next XS11 is due for collection this Wednesday. I'd like to get it to a similar condition but, at this stage, it's a bit of an unknown quantity. Really exciting!!!
