  • Turn signal cancelling module

Does anyone have an extra turn signal cancelling module for a 1979 special XS 1100? Or does anyone know where I might get one?

When I got the bike, mine was broken and the guy that had it before rigged it to bypass, but I want it back the right way.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
    Sherry & Mark

The auto-cancel unit is a yamaha-only part. A few bikes used them, including the early VX (Virago) series, which is where I got my spare from a bone yard. Yamaha price is around $70.00 for a new one.

Option is to use a 2-prong standard or electronic (less curent draw) flasher. This will flash the lights, but won't auto-cancel. Holding the bike-side connector with the open part toward the ground the flasher plugs into the center and right-hand connector. You won't hurt anything if you plug it in wrong, lights just won't work.

      Electronic Flashers

      Sherry & Motorhead,
Most of us use a 2 prong electronic flasher replacement from NAPA or some such auto parts place. Can be purchased for around $10.00 and are direct plug ins. You do lose the cancel feature, however, I work for a Honda/Yamaha dealer we stock a universal replacement that has to be wired in, about $75.00 plus wiring. I opted for the $10.00 route, but our parts department can still get a lot of parts for the XS and the guys who work there used to ride XS1100's. The number in case you are interested is 334-272-6600 ask for parts and accessories. We can normally have delivery of out of stock items in 3 days. Also can get windshields for fairings, progressive springs, shocks, etc. Let us know if we can help, I sell bikes not accessories or parts, so hopefully I'm not crossing any lines here related to self profit. I recommend the $10 route, but we can help with a "stock type" setup if desired. HTH

I am using an electronic type but it is a three-pronged type and you have to run the third prong to a ground, if I remember correctly. The signals do not slow down at idle. :-)

            Thanks so much

We are still looking for just a couple of parts. Thanks for telling me about the lowers on ebay, I got them.

Still haven't got a sissy bar with luggaue rack for the special.
Also still looking for 79 xs special grab bar.

Also a good set of gold tank badges.

But our searches are starting to come to an end.
Then he will have his winter time work cut out for him. LOL
