  • Horn/Starter Button

Tried searching bit didn't seem to come up with anything. Anyone remember who it was that made the SS horn and starter buttons?

          Hi Nate,
OK, now you can send for buttons in stainless, aluminum or Delrin.
But what if you live way out in the country and it's Sunday and you gotta ride NOW?
Put your power drill in the vise for an ersatz lathe, chuck up a red plastic handled screwdriver you are not fond of by it's sawn off blade and turn yourself a button with a file.
It's still working 22 years later.

Or you could just kick start it and not use the horn!

Ahhh, but those same engineers decided we late bloomers to the XS11 market did not need a kick start! So we are forced to make the electronic version do its thing. That or find a good steep hill to roll down and pop the clutch.

Yep, you need a hill; these things are too heavy to push for a 'bump start'...

Ah that's right amd since Fred has a sg he can't kick start it, sorry Fred.

I am glad I have the kick start cause I have had to use it.

The aluminum or other metals look good for start or horn buttons..........but U may be pushing to start if U don't have the kick-start option........raining and previous wet weather has caused corrosion under metal button..........just something to consider. Fred's option looks to be the better choice in a pinch and looks to have worked for him a LONG time so far......JAT.

Y'know Fred, since you have that sidecar rig, you should put some sort of 'bumper' at the rear then you could push-start yours in a pinch with a car!
