    piston ring installation

    I have purchased new piston rings for my '81 xs1100. The Clymer manual indicates to install rings with their markings up. The only markiing I see is a tiny "r" and Clymer does not specify what the marking should look like. Does anybody know how these rings should be orientated? Thanx Oka

      Not 100% sure, but if it says markings face up, it probably means any markings. This is the proper orientation. The arrow in the picture is forward....
