Can't tell for sure, most of it looks 80, but the badges are wrong for an 80, they appear to be 79 badges (80 badges have solid colored gold areas, not the outline like those), but it does appear to have 80 air forks, and the side covers are 80 side covers. However, unless the tires are pretty new, they are junk and need replaced post haste, and I'm not sure it's worth 3400, not unless your a collector looking for that bike as a collection piece. Can't tell from the photo's if the carbs are 80 carbs or not, and the 8 gallon tank would sure be nice, but seals and such sitting dry out, so it may need taken apart and all the seals and such replaced, so I'm sure it would need all the same care that any neglected bike would need (and IMHO this is a neglected bike if it's sat in a bike shop for 16 years). I personally don't think that it's work the starting bid price, let alone the buy it now, but then what do I know, I bought a runner for $800 2 years ago, still riding it daily two years later.

I dunno, the tank is pretty butt-ugly and only buyers with little a$$es will fit on it....

Looks like the early carbs Cy, as they have the cast top covers. Also notice the '78-79 standard sidecovers, so it may not be an '80.

The rest of the bike is sharp.

The side covers look like mine, but have the 79 badges on them. Notice the slanted top, and you can see the round top mounting on the left side cover. Can't see the idle adjust screws to tell if their early or late.

Man, I'll bet when you hit that nitrous you better have that tire pointing straight.

Worth every bit of it to me. Think a standard tank would have looked better though.

xs's have gone for, i can see this one
selling, that is 1 beautiful bike,
i dont mind the tank, i think the seat

After looking closer, it probably is a '80; look closely at the left side cover and you see where they modified the slot and there's a round tab sticking through. There's also an extra hole (incorrect mod?) with nothing in it.

Those are '78-79 standard sidecovers though; they have the little 'tabs' on the top forward edge; those were the only years that did...

also notice the nitro set up,
instead of going thru the intake barb
theres a plate between the intake and the head.

That's strange, because my understanding was that 78 and 79 standard side covers would not work with the 80 standard but that the 79 specials do, but you need to work on the slots to fit the little post.
