  • video of the sports with keihin carbs

heres a vid of my bike with the keihin carbs fitted,
the mod with the barb didnt work, so the vac adv is disconnected,
(tho it looks connected in the vid)
even still the bike runs much better with these carbs,
its running slightly rich on the video, nothing that a mixture screw
    adj didnt fix,
btw, the bikes fully warmed up when revving.

    Awesome sounds like my video!

So it looks like drilling you mains out close top mine worked.

I took an old airjet and stuffed it into the vac advance hose. This works well. I found that I have to put it in prime to start when its cold. I never ever used prime if I ride everyday. If it sat then I needed to. While researching zrxoa board it seems like I reaad the big zed uses a fuel pump. Maybe why I need to prime when I start.

Glad you got it running with those jets!!! This was definatly a great mod!

I am interested in what you feel the performance improvement is over a properly tuned set of stock carbs. Or do you feel these are just easier to tune?

I have watched both videos of both of your bikes, and honestly see and hear no difference over the way my bikes run with the stock carbs. But maybe I do not have a tuned ear.

                Hi Don,
If your carbs are running sweet and you havent had any
problems with them, then i wouldnt replace them,
i spent a small fortune on slide rubbers and springs,
replaced butterfly seals and have had them apart so many
times ive lost count, the keihin carbs seem to be more
responsive, there only a few years old compared to 30 yr old mikunis,
and ive only spent a cpl of days messing with the
jets, ill probably add the air box back on which should improve the low end a little more.

                hi Tom,
hmmm now thats a thought hey

                hi Cobia and Lee,
not sure of the brand of exhaust it came with the bike and has no markings, but i like it, ill try and take a pic of it, it clears the oil filter housing and allows for the oil cooler, it has a nice wide collector, i need to add a small secondary pipe from the collector to the muffler, i was running a 4-2-1
tranzac system i didnt like the sound of it, tho it had a good mid range response.
