Hey fellas, just received a needle set for my 79 xs11 special from georgefix. The new needles are 1/8 inch longer in the body (not including the spring loaded part). George says the ones he sent are year/ model correct. It's not that I doubt him I'm just trying to determine what I have here. there is no way these needles will work with my floats. Does anyone have any of these parts laying around for measuring? My old ones are 1/2 inch long and the new ones are 5/8 inch.... Help!!!!!!! thanks in advance Johnny

There is a little brass tab on the float the bends so that you can set float height. Georgefix is pretty good about his carb parts (not saying people don't mess up sometimes). Could also be your carbs had the wrong needles on it before. Take a pic of the two needles amd put it up on here.Nathan

I'll take some pics tmw. I get the concept and to make these needles work would take major bending of more than just the tab. the needles that came out and the associated floats are a matched set in my mind. could be the carbs came off something else? the journey continues..... thanks, johnny

Just measured the K+L needles for the 78-79 carbs, they are 1/2" long, not including the spring thingy. Might want to contact Georgefix, he'll fix it for you. These are the 1/2" ones I use...
