  • Running Temp

I was looking to see what other people got as a normal running temp(at the exhaust manifold) to see if mine is running correctly. I have a temp gun that I shoot right at the exhaust manifold where it comes out of the block and i get a few different temps from 1 - 4. Can anyone tell me what they get?

Exhaust temp isn't really the most accurate way to tell how a engine is running. There was a thread about this a couple months back, do a search for exhaust temperature and it should come up. Lots of info in there, I think it was a couple pages long at the end of it finally.

i think the inner two cylinders will run a little hotter than the outside two just because of their position in the block as long as there is no drastic difference in temp things should be ok ,,ride safe ,,slow mo!

Plug color is a better indicator for how a motor is running. If it has an aftermarket exhaust, coloration of the headpipe at the first turn will indicate if its running TOO hot....it will change color faster, IIRC.....
