The starter clutch will NOT try and stick as much! As long as the oil has no friction modifiers, you should have no problems. I would use whatever brand of oil you use now, though. Some oils will make the engine seem noisy, even though they are still doing the job.

Should be fine, specially if kept in a man-cave. When new, rode mine all first winter when it would start. Kept it covered(outside) with a heat lamp underneath and most of time would start even with 20-50w oil. Many a time that ten mile ride was with temps at a -20F. Now some 30yrs. later I and the scoot try to avoid those cold weather jaunts as we are no longer invincible and the bike still lubricates with 20-50w Vavoline between rest in the man-cave.

        Hi Kev,
Now that it is colder : Makes the starter work a bit harder. Make sure it is warmed up before reving and you will be fine.
Watch for the wet leaves and later the icy patches.
Are you coming to the December show gathering of the XSives?

looks like my bike needs a new battery (unless the 20w50 is wearing it down) and it dosen't like to start below 4C anyway. looking at the forecast this week makes me think its time to pack it in, i don't want to buy a new battery only to have the warrenty run out over the winter. where/when is the december rally?

            Hi Kevxs,
If the battery is more than 3 years old the spring would be a good time to replace it. Usually a sale at Canadian Tire or WalMArt in the spring.
just charge it to get you thorugh the last few rides.

There is a December show thread. Convention Centre on Front St
12 Dec I think is our planned date. Show wandering followed by food in the vicinity. Quite a few attend. this is all about the Manufaturers 2011 models so most are just looking at what we can not afford
January is the big one out at the International Centre. we do tha too
