  • WOO HOO! Got a Freebie!

Picked up a FREE XS today... it's strictly a parts bike (no title), but even if it had one it would still be a tough fix. Frame is a '81H, motor is out of a '80SG, and the rest is pure frankenbike... special trees, tank, seat, tach, front calipers, all the rest looks to be standard including the forks and speedo... yep, it'd be a bit hard to mount those front brakes...

But there's still a lot of good parts (some I even want), and it was free!

Craigslist... The guy wanted $200 for it, but I traded for some car parts off a dead car I was getting ready to have hauled off anyway. He even delivered the bike and pulled the parts. I almost never get any kind of 'deal', so this is a big deal for me. The one major missing bit is the exhaust, but you can't have everything.

Jeez, I'm getting as bad as some of the rest of you guys.... bought another one. This one's a '80 Special, was running until it developed a major carb leak. Has a 'Vindicator' fairing on it, and a strange set of Yamaha hard bags. This one has a fair amount of PO issues too, but does have a title, so this is probably going to become my 'modded' bike.

The bags are 'quick detatch' type, and look like they've been adapted. I'll post some pics tomorrow and see if somebody can identify what they are. It also has what appears to be a matching trunk.

How does that seat look? I have been looking for one like that I don't care for the one on mine and the pan has seen better days since the pan is rusting away.

If you don't have any plans the shorty case gaurds and the chrome is pretty good I might be interested taking them off your hands.

Check with these guys first, since you were talking to them, but if they can't help you, I have a 160 mph speedometer and five brake rotors along with other master cylinder and calipers. Just let me know if you can't find what you're looking for.
