  • Small fairing for '79 Standard

I am looking for a small fairing for my 1979 XS 1100 Standard to get some wind protection.

I like the the style that the XS 1100 Sport had, see http://www.motorcyclespecs.co.za/mod...sport%2081.htm

Does this fairing fit on a Standard? It is probably not available in the US but are there similar fairings out there?

Do I have to worry about a negative effect on stability with a handle-bar mounted fairing on the XS?

Thank you very much in advance.

    Greetings from rainy Colorado,

I used to have the f16 sportscreen by national cycle. Got it on ebat new from maw. It has gone up a little in price though. I think he wants 89 or offer less. If you offer 50 I think he will sell for around 60. When I got it it was 46. Worked great and looked good with the squareheadliight. Search for some of my photos. Also it was in the 2009 calender for october.
After the wrecker incident of 09 I lost it...

However a newly aquired 79 had a rifle fairing. I think its a night something or other???
I now have it on my bike. It works great and looks similar to the european one. I had to ditch the square light though.
I also have several pics of a 79 with the zrx1200r fairing. Perfect fit over the light!! You can by a fiberglass one from airtech for 130. Then find a cheap windshield for it because airtechs shields are outrageous!!!

Kinda tough to find quarter fairings for the rectangular headlight. Here's one that would fit, it has cutouts for turn signals though...

        HiArmin,
        you mean one of these?

Our aesthetic senses must differ because I think it's the ugliest thing in nature which is why it's been hanging in my garage since I took it off my bike on the same day I bought the machine.
It'll clear the Standard's rectangular headlight because the square to round headlight adapter went missing.
The attachments are missing too so you are on your own there.
Yours for mailing costs which will be at least $50 from Saskatoon to Colorado.

Rifle makes a variety of small fairings that may bolt up to an XS. Round or rectangular headlight. Might be worth a look.

I have used bothe the street shield and the plexifairing. The street shield was ok at wind breaking but nowhere near the plexifairing.pics of my bike with both are linked below.

The original Sport fairing that you linked to would fit but you would come across two problems..

One, they are very difficult to find these days..
Two, the Sport had an 8" headlight which means you would also need to source one of those (also not that easy).
