New to the site and have made a few posts, but haven't yet posted pics of my xs1100g. So here she is, and by spring she'll be back to her former glory. Plan on tossing a special headlight on the front with the matching round side lights on the front/back. Other than that, should be close to stock. Seat is being replaced and all of the routine check ups (fuse, oils, tires, battery, rust removal, buffing, paint, etc...).
Removed the air filter to get all of the acorns out, but no critters so far.
Anyone happen to know what exhaust are on her?

WHAT? You're going to molest this very nice standard and put on a round headlight light like EVERYBODY has?

Nice clean bike, don't know that I'd change anything (ok, the seat needs redoing).

Exhaust? Stock header pipes with aftermarket mufflers...
Fast, Cheap, Reliable... Pick any two

        Resto

Lol, knew some people would get on my about the headlight. She'll look good when she's done. I have most all of the stock parts. You can see I already removed the emblems and side covers. I'm going to try and go over the emblems like I've read in the tech tips. Still undecided about the final paint, but I've got to get her running really good before I get that far. Should be able to get most of the tune up done in the next month or so.
I have all winter to go over the carbs, brakes, and make her look pretty again.
I have been having good luck finding parts, except for the elusive grab bar. I've seen a bunch for the special and the late 70's standard that attaches to the seat, but still no luck yet on the one I need. Like the look of it though, really makes the bike look sharp.

Im usually the last person who would comment on this. But your the one who said resto..... You should have bought a special if thats what you wanted

I will admit, I hate to see standards molested. Specials are another story though.

Looks like a very nice starting point. Like many here, I do hate to see the really nicely kept ones torn into and turned into something else. Prefer that happen to the barn finds that only have half their pieces anyway.

But, it is your bike and if that is what you want to do with it, have fun!

As to the exhaust, those look suspiciously like the set on Banshee, which were sold to me as a Kerker 4-2 and have a Kerker emblem on one of the mufflers. This was what I did with a barn find.

                  Progress

Still disassembling and cleaning. Think the previous owner left it outdoors for most of the time he owned it. Bit of rust build up here and there. But most everything is still there. Bonus is the carbs look pretty clean inside.

Kinda partial to the G's, but then again I have had one for 20+ years. The square headlight/turn signals were a styling statement for Yamaha when the XS's rolled out. Made it pretty easy to tell what was coming at ya, or just blew by you. Emblems and such are pretty rare so hang onto them and take great care when handling them. Can't tell ya what the mufflers are, but if you check out JCW, they sell a "extra long muffler" that is almost a ringer for OEM, but more available and cheaper. All depends on what your look your trying to get. Remember, these are classic muscle machines. They may not pack the punch of late model rigs, but they do get respect from those with any knowledge about bikes. The cool factor when you pull up on a nice running, good looking XS11 is priceless.
                    When a 10 isn't enough, get a 11. 80g Hardbagger

If the gas tank paint is in decent shape... give it a good polish.
                      Paint done...
It would be a shame to ruin the original paint on that... not many around anymore.
If it doesn't have an engine, it's not a sport, it's only a game.
