  • is there a dif!!!

well sorry to say that my xs11e was lost in a fire nothing left except the front forks and engine, rest of the bike was a total loss, as im looking for a relacement i came across an add for a "78 and says its an E, My "E" has or ( Had) a square head light and bucket, the one im looking at has a round head light and bucket, was there 2 diff "E's, out there or maby a change in production, tank looks the same, spedo and tach look the same, the seat has been re-conditiond, the only thing that throws me off is the light. any ideas. thanks for any help.

Some people don't like the looks of the square headlight, so they put the round one on. All the "E's" came with a square headlight from the factory. Post a pic and we'll tell you what it is. Sorry about the loss of your bike.

You might want to look at the frame number and see if it matches the engine... square head light doesnt necessarly make it an 'E', the year of the bike does. Post your serial number and we will let you know if its really an 'E' or not.

            Headlight

I've been working on restoring an 80g and not really into the square headlight either. The round headlight from a special will fit on the standard? I would likely have to replace the ears as well?
            Thanks

Yes the ears have to be changed out. also the special round turn signals on the special mount to the headlight bucket instead of down on the forks like the standards do.

                Headlight

Thanks for the help. I'm trying to restore it to a really clean look, not just to the original setup, and that square headlight keeps buggin me. I'll be changing out the side lights on the front and back as well. Shouldn't be too many more mods on it though.

Yeah I am switching out all my lights to the round as well, then leave the rectangle one in the fairing so there is less work to do when I put that on or take it off.

                    headlight

I'll try to get some picks up once I get down and dirty with it. Just waiting to knock down a wall in the garage to make some room before I start giving it a tune up and taking parts off it.

dont know if this is any help or not,
but you should be able to put the round blinkers
on the stalks of the standard. the special blinkers that
fit on the rear that attach to the brakelight assy will
                      also fit onto the front.
