I'll bet these are the mounts for your rear signals... look to be custom built and I'll bet if you check your signals will fit on 'em...

actually thats what i thought too but the threaded portion of my signal lights is smaller than the opening on these

These look to be replacements for the stock chrome stalks; remove the bolt that clamps the signal housing to the stalk, remove the stalk and see if they fit in it's place.

Unless the 79 rear signals mounted ALOT different than the 80-81 Specials, those look nothing like the mounts for the rear signals.

I was wondering if it was part fo the forks or soemthing. Never seen anything like it on the couple I have torn down.

That's a non-stock part... if you look at his post for where/how to mount his rear turns because the sissy bar is in the way, these make sense. These will bolt to the sissy bar, not the frame.

I made a set of 'shorty' mounts for mine (to tuck the turns closer to the bike) and these look very similar. The drilled mounting bolt (to allow the wiring) is the giveaway...

Hi Terry,
referring to your other post, if the drilled bolts fit through the holes through the sissy bar that are in line with the stock rear signal rubber mounts, they are meant to hold rear signals on. If your stock signals don't mate up, with aftermarket ones instead.
The groove is to hook a bunjie cord onto.

I should have looked at Terry's sig line....

These are mounts for Standard turn signals, which have removable stalks in the rear. His sissy bar must be multi-fit (standards or specials), so these were included for a standard. The groove is the relief for the clamp bolt. These won't work if he has the round special turn signals.

To install special signals, just put the signal bolt through the sissy bar hole and run the wire in through the original frame hole...
