First off I am a brand new yamaha guy (years of honda in my veins).

I think its a 79 -paperwork calls it that anyway- but dont know all the models of XS11's

Looks like a 79 Standard (79F) with the touring package. Nice bike. Not the original handlebars.

Its a Standard. XS1100F to be specific. Very nice example of one too I might add! You've go the complete Pacifico fairing (with lowers!), and that is said to be the best fairing ever made for these bikes. Mirrors are aftermarket (they should be round), but otherwse, that's a VERY nice ride!

To the right person, a few hundred $. Though it makes me cringe to think of separating that setup from it's bike...

If you can find a local buyer you may get 75-150 for it. They are so large and awkward the shipping kills ya. I bought a nice windjammer ss for 25 bucks the other day but drove a few hours to pick it up.

I see windjammers sell for $150-$200 around here. A complete Pacifico is worth WAY more than that!

I know what you mean, I'm still mulling it over. Personally I dont like farings and the only bike I ride with a faring is this.


Maybe I should try a trade for another model or bike.

Yup, you should get enough by selling that GoldWing that you could buy a real nice Special. Then you'd have one dressed and one naked, and they would both be XS11s!.

You might check the numbers to see if the motor is original; while it has the kick-start shaft of the '78-79 bikes, it sure looks like a '80 otherwise. That's definitely a '80 seat, and the sidecover is lacking the little 'tab' of the earlier models. But I wouldn't be surprised to hear that the numbers match, as the longer I see these the more it appears that Yamaha sometimes 'blurred' the lines between models. Either that, or a PO swapped some bits around... gee, that never happens...

Oh yeah, it's a standard. Still a nice looking bike though....

That is the touring seat for the 79 and the cowl goes bye-bye with it installed. The 80 and up Standard side covers are totally different, resembling the Special model sidecovers.

The sidecover is still missing the tab that it should have if it's a '79, and the fit doesn't look quite right; the gap to the seat isn't even.

Also, notice the smaller driver footpegs, 80 and up had the large rubber. I have the same seat on my 79F.

I dont think the picture has enough light/quality to see the tab on the side cover... Only the '78 and '79 standard side covers interchange. All others have the round hole for the mounting pegs I believe... Everything looks correct to me for a XS1100F, nothing would make me think its not a '79. Very nice bike, I like your seat I have been looking for one just like it. It looks to me like the color on the tank is not stock, its close though...

No, not an 80 seat. The 80 seat doesn't have a straight bottom, but is curved more like the specials, as a matter of fact, if you take the grab bar off an 80 special, the standard seat will bolt right up, but leave a gap behind the tank, and you have to take off the taillight. That straight bottom went away with the 79 standards, and never came back.

Those side covers aren't the same as an 80 either, definitely not an 80 standard.
