so I got this bike from my brother it has sat for about 4 yrs. went threw made sure that everything was greased and good that way. picked up new battery no power, tested all likely supects fuses, solenoid. going to start checking wires is there a place to start or should I just rewire the whole bike.

Do you get any lights in the indicators like headlight, oil, neutral light? Does the starter turn if you jumper across the large terminals on the solenoid?

Of course the first thing to look at is the main fuse. Which I believe the 80 model is like the 81 where the main fuse is in a separate holder behind the left side cover. You will see a small black rubber holder near the top frame rail.

Then, the ignition switch gets crudy and corroded. It can be taken a part and cleaned pretty easily.

After that power goes to the fuse box. The old glass fuses can look good and be bad, also the connectors are subject to about disintegrating. I'd replace it with the one TC sells, they work great and go in nicely.

After that, it is highly recommended you go in and clean all the electrical connectors.
Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

When your work speaks for itself, don't interrupt.
