I have talked to coastguard1975 on ebay about his lines and even asked if I could send him my old lines to be sure of the banjo angles. He had no problem with that at all.

He sells the Stainless lines for the XS for $69.95

    Here is the link.

All I know about Coastguard is that he still has two of my lines and will not return any form of communication with me. Others have used what he sent and like them.

For my pure stock 81 Special, the lines form the MC to the splitter and from the rear MC to the rear caliper were wrong length and wrong angles on the banjos. We discussed it two days after I got the lines and he stated he would exchange whatever I needed. Then after I test fit them, I even sent him pictures, dimensions, and selected from his catalog what the line should be, sent him the two lines back, and never get a peep from the guy. After more thna a few attempts to contact him and no replies, I write it off as lesson learned.

Like I said, plenty of others have dealt with him and been fine. For me, you'll first see me drinking beers with satan himself than doing business with him again. As the old saying goes ' fool me once shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me!' YMMV

I used the coastguard lines and everything was fine. At first i thought I may have problems. At the time I also changed my handlebars from the roto-tillers so that could have made a big difference. I had used cyclebrakes.com before and was very happy with the Galfer lines they sent me but the coastguard price was hard to compete with. Now I have decided that I will order any and all brake lines from cyclebrakes as I was so impresssed with the service, fit adjustability and I can order any size line I desire. The ends will rotate as you need them to ( instructons on how came with the lines ). I have an 81LH that needs some lines and I can get them from cyclebrakes.com . I know they are more money but man the head-aches it saves are worth every penny. I am dealing on a 82XJ right now that will get them as well if I happen to get it bought.

I think you're likely to find brake hoses from Mike's XS to be of improper length for the 1100. The XS650 is a smaller bike. Special handlebars are the same.

Here is the info I have on hoses for a Special:

              Hose #1 20-1/2” - Front M/C
              Hose #2 22-3/4” - Caliper
              Hose #3 22-3/4” -Caliper
              Hose #4 19” -Rear

Crazy Steve....Do you have a rigid front end on your bike? I cant see how to mount Hard steel lines to compressable forks.
or do you mean to the bottom of the triple tree?

Do any of you have experience with HEL USA? $117 for a complete front line kit seems reasonable enough, if it's right.

Buying all of the Goodrich hoses and fittings from Z1 Enterprises is going to cost about the same money.

I should think running a hard line at the top is asking for trouble. I can think of all kinds of scenarios where it could and would get bent or break.

Was wondering about the specs, since Mike's XS has some nice bolt on SS lines for sale. Saw some at motorcyclesuperstore.com that seem to be built to fit.

I do like the HEL USA lines cause even the banjos are SS, where coastguard is aluminum banjos. But cost is a huge factor as well.

Yes, there is. They have different forks, calipers, and handlebars. I do not know the dimensions for the lines on a standard. Perhaps someone will chime in.
