Found a source of Wiseco piston kits which seems to be more reasonable than the usual $600 everybody talks about, they're $458 here. Check it out:
    These are the 1179cc
    http://www.motorcycleparts.biz/store...=piston-yamaha
    And the 1196cc
    http://www.motorcycleparts.biz/store...=piston-yamaha

And they have K&N filters for under $45

                  Old Design Wiseco Pistons

Wiseco redesigned the XS pistons about 10 years ago. The current stuff has anti-detonation grooves in the ring lands, slightly different skirts and some other subtle differences that make them a superior piece compared to the older design.

Piston wise, the new stuff is state of the art and the pistons that were made in the 80's are obsolete from an engineering standpoint and so a word to the wise, be sure you are getting the latest design pistons before you go through the time and expense of a big bore kit.

The older kits also came with the red head gaskets which are prone to leak and the ones made before 85 came with a head gasket that employed a neprene cam chain cavity gasket like that used on the 79-78 models.
Of course that's no big deal because you can get the current gasket from Wiseco or from Cometic who makes them.

Unfortunately nobody but Yamaha makes the good graphite head gasket anymore and they will not work with a bore diameter larger than 72.5 mm and they cost a $100.00 apiece.

Be forewarned, all big bore XS Wiseco piston kits are not the same.
