  • 79 Special Head Gasket Install

I am putting the top end back together, and Head Gaskets are hard to come by. Do the experts use sealant, grease, or any other preparation on the gasket or torque it down as is. The old one was blown and I resurfaced the cylinder and head metal, so I know that it is flat. Any advice?????

No sealer on these head gaskets, just re-torque after running the engine up to operating temperature for the first time. Don't forget to re-torque the two nuts on bottom of head, in the front and back. DO NOT re-install the rubber timing chain tunnel gasket, just omit it, it is no longer required.
