how stable is the fender being mounted (welded) to the swing arm? I was thinking of doing the same thing.

I still need to fab up fender struts. The mount is a piece of 1" tube bent with flange welded on one end for the fender to mount to and the open end of tube welded to swingarm on pivot tube. The fender is quite sturdy as it stands but without a doubt needs struts if you plan on running the bike. It'd rattle like hell and could only support it's weight.

Looks neat, what r u gonna do with the Std. tank? I wonder what shipping would be to Boise, ID...? Not heavy, but they're pretty big... And would u wanna trade Std forks for Special forks? It'd give u an inch or two of a more raked look...

I can check on the shipping for the tank. Everything that I am not using is up for grabs. The front end I have on sets my bikes lower frame rails perfectly parallel to ground which is perfect. To be perfectly honest I shortened the forks 2".

I'd still swap u the lowers of the legs. The special's legs just put the axle in front of the tubes instead of on the end of them. Did u just cut 2" from the springs or from the actual tubes?

Does all my brake hardware and caliper mounts work the special lowers? If so let me think about it.

Special and standard brakes do not interchange they mount totally different. You have to match special fork and brakes. and standard forks and brakes. I have also read that you cannot put special fork lowers on standard upper and vice versa.

Thats fine. I don't think I like the looks of the special lowers, atleast not for my project.
