  • dynojet questions

Okay I bought a dynojet kit off of fleabay for 81.00! I'm excited about that....but the part that concerns me is if it will make all my dreams come true. Right now my bike has a custom free flowing 4 into 2 and a custom airbox that uses a high flow k&N cone filter. Will the stage 3 fatten up the mixture enough to handle the extra flow of air? The bike idles and revs just fine now but when I put a load on it (ride it) it pops and cuts out real bad like it's starving.

Sounds about right. Don't expect an immediate fix though. You will need to play with the mixture screws and the float levels to dial it in. The kit has decent instructions, so start there and make adjustments as needed.

You won't have any problem with the kit doing what it suppose to do. It might be good to find out why you have the popping and cutting out before you install the dyno kit.
Don't be in a hurry to install the #138 jets depending on where you are you might just find that it's too rich. What ever jet you decide to use take a look at your plugs after you take it for a run.

Right now with my dynojet kit I am running the DJ128 mains, Needle clip is on the 3rd grove down, and my fuel mixture screws are set at 3 3/4 turns out. My floats are set to 23mm.

I have pod filters, stock coils, and stock 4-2 exhaust.

I followed their instuctions and found the DJ138 mains made my ride run to rich, so I used the DJ128.

I am wondering, if using a hotter coil if I will have to put the DJ138 mains in. But I will figure it out when I decide to use hotter coils. JAT

As tinman and CatatonicBug suggest, I would not install the DJ138 mains yet and you will have to spend to time fine tunning.

In your case I would start with the DJ128 mains, fuel mixture screws 4 turns out, per dynojet, and the needle clip on the second groove. Then see how your ride performs.

I also used a colortune to help dial it in, if you are like me and cannot do it well by ear I suggest getting one. Also make sure you re sync your carbs.

        Hope this helps,

Thanks guys. I'm really looking forward to getting this kit put in and see how it does. I do have the accel coils as well the high flow filter and free flow mufflers, but I'll just start with what dynojet reccommends and go from there.
