  • EBC HH pads for XS1100SG?

Hey guys, I'm sick and tired of my crappy front brakes. I rode CaptonZap's 80Standard last week, and his front brakes weren't much better than mine, although he has a firmer lever, they seemed to only stop his bike a bit better than my 80 SG.

The pads I have on are newer EBC organic pads, the only ones I could find when I went shopping at the dealers.

Does anyone know if there is a higher friction pad, such as the EBC HH, for the front of an XS?

The HH pads have dramatically improved braking on all my other bikes, both in terms of feel and power, so I'd like to explore getting some, or another style sintered pad that is similar.

    Ideas?

Have you upgraded to SS brake lines yet? That will dramatically improve your brake performance. I doubt that a different style pad will make much difference in stopping power though. YMMV.

You're out of luck for anything other than organics for your special. DP brakes sells sintered front pads for every XS/XJ except the specials...

      http://www.dp-brakes.com/padsearch.p...del=XS&cc=1100

... while EBC only offers organics for any of them.

So your best option would be braided lines like Cbug said, otherwise look into swapping forks/brakes...

I'm running EB copper sintered pads on my G as well as my J. They really feel good, particularly on my G with drilled rotors. Haven't really had a chance to try them on the J cause it's in the infirmary!!!
Note - Some of the pads on the J are the same as on the specials. I know that the right front is the same as the rear on the specials.

Ok guys. For the heck of it, I bled the front brakes on my SG yesterday before riding to work. I was doing it more to move clean fluid through the system than anything.

For what it's worth, I improved the lever feel, and picked up a bunch of power. Must have flushed something out/loosened something up, as the brakes now feel pretty good, in both lever firmness and the much improved stopping power. I have had the calipers completely apart in the last year, so in that sense, things should have been working well regardless, and I have cleaned the spooge hole as well.

I had bled the brakes numerous times, and this time I did nothing different, but the result was much better!

Amen, good-night, I must be living right for that good fortune to come my way.

Interesting... how long ago did you buy them? Their 2010 catalog doesn't show anything other than organic for the XS/XJ bikes...
