Does anyone have an idea where i could find parts for my 79 xs11 sf. I am in need of the tank emblems new side cover emblems and a seat. I am trying to restore the bike and those are the parts I need. the seat that is on it is a double bucket style the was modified to fit on the bike. I could use the pan but the only way it will fit it sits about 3 inches to far forward. I would also like some ideas on a paint scheme. I am going to tear it down this winter and go threw everything on the bike, would like to paint it but not sure what color yet.

Lots of places for parts. Unfortunately, the SF is rather unique, especially with the seat and sidecovers. Emblems can be had from these folks, but they are metal, and a tad bit smaller than OEM, due to metal shrinkage in the casting process. For the seat and sidecover, just keep an eye out in the parts for sale section, and on ebay. Be patient, and something will eventually pop up. I can't help with colors, except to say that the originals only came in "Carmine Red" and "Black Gold".

Thanks for the site. I am also going to be looking for new exhaust. The bike only has 13k miles and the current ones are in good shape but i would like some that are louder, or maybe a header. I have looked around and can only find stock pipes. I would like to get some with smaller diameter mufflers.

Be aware that changing the pipes will mess with engine performance. The stock pipes are the perfect design for these bikes, and changing them can lead to a wild goose chase of tuning adjustments. Of course, many have done it, but if you have a set of nice stock pipes, I would stick to them like crazy...

IIRC, there is only 1 company making new pipes (a Mac 4-1 setup) for these bikes, and the quality is rather low. If you REALLY want a different set, look for some used Jardines.

[QUOTE=CatatonicBug;296022]..IIRC, there is only 1 company making new pipes (a Mac 4-1 setup) for these bikes, and the quality is rather low.../QUOTE]

Mac still offers a couple of 4-2 systems for these in addition to the 4-1 Cbug mentioned, but like he said, the quality isn't that good. The chrome will start looking crappy pretty fast (most you see used are painted, and that's why). And expect to take a performance loss with these, as the original pipes really are the best choice in most cases.

Keep in mind that a good condition stock exhaust is worth much more than any new or used aftermarket system...
