  • Hey, I've got a Venturer tank!

While looking at posts today, I realized that one of my EBay 'standard' tanks that I picked up is a 6.3 gal Venturer! When I bought it, I was just looking for something to repaint (holding one in reserve for a future restoration hopefully) and didn't pay any attention to it other than to note that it's side 'knee indents' were slightly different. But it's pretty nasty rusty inside (although there's no rust blisters showing outside, so it appears to be solid), so when I picked up a part bike with a clean tank, I put it aside. I'll have to see how it looks on my 'naked' bike and if I like it, then doing some electrolysis to clean it out see if it's still good...

I've got slightly taller bars on the bike, but I'm more concerned with fit to the FJ forks. These are wider and have less tree offset, so I'll definitely be trying it before I get too far...

I was thinking the same thing.. will it fit and allow for full handlebar clearance?

Just an FYI......when I got my bought-new Venturer back 5yrs. ago, the PO had the Special buckhorns on it........eeeek, on a standard with-out the leading axle, that was strange to ride say the least. Put correct ones back on and this past spring changed them out for a set of everyway adjustable Heli-Bars same as I have on my ST. The bar ends are already internally dampened, and look and work well for me. Only problem for those who would like to use such a bar set-up, they are out of production since last year. You see them only occassionally on the Bay used.

I've put a Venture tank on my '79 Standard with no problems. I DO have a set of the bar backs with I think OEM bars. I've not had any clearance problems unless I overstuff the tank bag.
