  • Brake rebuild kits for 78E

Looks like parts-n-more has good pricing for caliper & front mc kits but I'm having trouble ordering from the website and also need rear mc kit and brakelines. Has anybody done a rebuild lately? Where'd you get the parts?

Ken, I searched & see you were rebuilding your wifes plus brakelines. What's the poop?

Since these are the orig parts (I bought it new in 78) I guess it's about time for a rebuild, eh.

    brakes for XS 1100

I haven't been able to order anything from the today either.
Yesterday they had some of the brakes and not the others, but said they would be in soon.

I am trying to order turn signals for our 79 special.

I will keep trying tomorrow, let me know if you get in.

    Thanks
    Sherry

When I did SWMBO's 'H and Tsunami before riding season, I bought the master cylinder and caliper rebuild kits from a Yamaha dealer. Yes, I probably paid a bit more that way then might have been available from some of the on-line sources, but this dealer has actually been pretty good to us over the years.

For SWMBO's 'H, I ordered Goodridge SS lines from Dennis Kirk and had a heck of a time getting all the pieces. I ended up having to contact Goodridge's American distributor, getting a referral from them to a custom hydraulics shop in California, then ordering from there via telephone. It seems like Dennis Kirk doesn't bother to re-order until they have a fairly large amount of stuff they need from a supplier. I finally gave up on them in about March from an order I originally placed sometime back in October or November.

For Tsunami, I tried ordering Russel SS lines and fitting through Lordco, a local chain auto parts distributor similar to Napa. After a couple of months of waiting, I asked my Yamaha dealer if they could get the same product. They said yes, and had it all available for pick-up in less than 2 weeks, including a coupld of pieces that they had to get in from eastern Canada.
