  • Petcock o-rings

I had my petcocks out of my tank because the tank was being painted....now they leak like hell. To acquire nos gaskets would take too long. I'm on a schedule. Can someone suggest an alternative? I was thinking on getting an o-ring and working it around the petcock because basically thats what it is to begin with. Same material. Are there specific gas-resistant o-rings?

Not sure if this is what you are talking about, but there is a tech tip for petcocks

    http://www.xs11.com/tips/repair/repair15.shtml

Any Buna-N (Nitrile) o-ring should be fine with gasoline. A good source for chemical compatibility is the O-ring chemical comaptibility guide at:

      Hey there SCBadBoy,

When I did my resurrection, I went to my local hardware store with petcock in hand and just found one that would fit and seemed thick enough to make a seal when compressed. That was 2 years ago, and no problems yet!!! I also used rubber sink washer gaskets for the felt on the screws, they sealed and also compressed and worked well, no leaks!!! YMMV.
