  • Anybody with a good Fuse box

    Hello, I recently bought a 79 XS1100F and the bike does not even have a Fuse box, Just the eight wires hanging in there.

    I know that the Large Red will link to the other Large Red,

    I know the R/y will hook to one of the Browns

    So will the R/W wire.

    and then two Browns will link together.

    My problem is that there are large Browns and Small Browns.

    Can anyone help me to know which wires link to which wires.

    I have tried several different combinations but I need HELP to know for sure.

    The fat tan (brown) wire at the fusebox is the turn signal circuit, 20 amp. Second to the last fuse in the diagram, bottom wire. Click to enlarge.

      I picked up my ATC fuseblock from NAPA to relace the OE glass fuse block for about twelve bucks. part number NW 785136
      '78 E "Stormbringer"

        You would be well served to get the modded fuse box from the guys on here. It is a spade type fuse. The fuse boxes are a PITA on these bikes. I wasn't that worn out when i was 30.

              Found it, http://www.napaonline.com/Search/Res...word&Nty=1&N=0 guess the price is a bit more than I remember,(but I get master installer price) but still under a twenty spot, and I know it works; I use one. You'll need a blister pack of female 1/4" spade terminals to go with it. and fuses of course
              There is ample room under the clear cover for spare fuses as well.

                original glass fuse box

                If you insist on the original box, it is available. You will need to wire in a connector. Maybe this isn't the best option, but I'm putting it out there for you.

                  +1 to this! $11 shipped includes the block and connectors, and another $9 worth of fuses from Autozone makes this a $20 project that can be easilly completed in an hour.

                    As stated, the thicker tan wires go together as a 20 amp circuit for the signal circuit. One of the smaller tan wires goes to the red white as a ten amp for the ignition circuit. The smaller blue wires go together for a ten amp circuit as the tail light circuit. And other the smaller tan wire goes with the red yellow for another ten amp circuit, but I can not recall the name of the circuit now.

                    The two large reds go to the main fuse which is 30 amp. If you get the fuse box TC sells, it not only lets you upgrade to the 6 ATC type fuses, it also lets you put all the fuses in one box including the main and the auxillary if you want to.

                    As an example, this is the "fuse box" I got with Banshee...


                    And the main fuse....so to speak


                    So I combined everything into one fuse block that TC supplied me along with the 90 deg connectors for $10. Here is the end result.
