  • Seat pan size difference

Hello everyone. Just bought a 79 XS1100F from a friend and it is in need of some TLC. One of the things I need is a seat and was looking at JCwhitney. I like the touring seat and I had one on my GS750 when it was new way back when. Anyway The cushion is only listed to fit an 80 model, will it fit the seat pan on my 79.

I got out the trusty Dennis Kirk catalog and looked up the seats in there. It has a listing for a Travelcade double bucket seat, a double with less foam in the back, and a standard LTD seat. The numbers are different on the 78-79 and 80-81 models...and also between the Special model for some reason...not sure on that one.
The number for technical support is 320-358-4793.

    Good Luck
    81' XS1100LH
I bought it for a bargain, now it is a prize.

Just wanted to let everyone know how the seat replacement went so it might save someone the same problem I had. Bought a seat advertised for an xs750-1100 from e-bay. I don't think the guy was trying to rip anyone off I just think he didn't know what he had. I checked out the parts lists for the seats and except for the first 3 numbers , which I thought just determined the year and the model, everything else was "pretty close". Well the wif doesn't like what was offered from dennis kirk so we decided to go for this seat. well as soon as it was out of the box I knew it was different. the seat pan was nearly flat, had xs750D molded in it and Mr.Seats molded also. Dimensionally the seat was almost the exact match but the seat pan was way off. I took it to the local upholstery guy and he cut and filled the foam and made it fit. He had it ready the next day at lunch and all in all I am probably about even on cost if I had bought a new cover and put it on. not a bargin like I hopped for from an e-bay buy, but it is a nice cush seat. like a ton better than the old seat which was a recover anyway. was going to keep the old seat in case somebody needed a stock cover but it was not stock. So I am happy with how it turned out. just wish thst the items on e-bay were a bargin instead of a necessity.

I have a nice touring seat that I'd trade for a nice regular standard seat. I can send pix on request.

The reason I'm not keeping it is that I'm tall and it locks me in to far forward.

I've got the hi backed seat that came as an upgrade option on the 79... (at least from the dealer my uncle bought Rusty from).

It is in bad need of recovering, and the pan is tired.

Mongrel has a seat that Im not sure what it fits, but it was all "customized" as far as the mounting. (L bracket to the turn signals)

So it looks as if i need at least 1 seat.., kinda do like the king/queen style though..

          Anyone with Ideas or help?

My mongrel has a double bucket seat for a standard on it but it puts me to far forward.

If you go to www.oregonmotorcycleparts.com and click on the Bike Pix button. It's on the top left and I'm open for trades.
