    Triple Tree replacement

Does anyone know what mm size the front tube is on a 79 xs1100? We want to put a new, all chrome customized front end on but all we see list either 39mm or 41mm sizes. Thanks, Buck

The fork tubes on the special and standard are the same diameter (37mm).

          FYI on XS11 triple-trees

The standard's forks are parallel to the steering head. Special forks are not. They are farther from the steering head at the top then at the bottom. Because of this, it is recommended to keep special fork with special triple-trees and vise-versa.

The reason for this is because of the leading wheel axle on the special. To keep the wheel base and steering geometry the some on both bikes, the special’s triple-trees where made to bring the wheel axle to the same location as the standard.
