It will start and run fine when i unplug it and if i plug it back in it will load the engin and it will die. It seams to crank real slow if its pluged in. i put a different generator on it and it seamed to be alright for a wile then the next day it acted the same way. plz let me know if any one esl has had this problem before. Hey GT,
You've got me a little confused? The "ALTERNATOR" has 3 white plugs that connect it to the harness behind the fuseblock. SO...what 2 wire connector are you talking about?
Several questions. How old is your battery? Have you done a charging test with a voltmeter with the engine running/idling and again at 2500+ rpm?
With a dead/dying battery, it could cause enough of a drain as well as NOT power the charging system properly, and when the volts drop below ~10.5 volts, the TCI will not work, engine dies!
So...a more thorough testing of your charging system is in order.

My "alternator" only has 2 conectors one is a three or four wire conector and the other one is a two wire conector i think the other conector is for the pick up coil on the distributor i think i may be totaly wrong but thats how i think it goes and my bike is an 81 standard i think im not sure.80 XS1100G Black Betty (Daily Driver)

The two wire connector, brown and dark green, are the field coil wires for the alternator. The 4 wire connector, 3 white and 1 yellow is the alternator voltage output. Yes, there is a similar connector nearby behind the fuse panel, that is the pick up coil wire connector.2H7 (79) owned since '89
