Threebond 1194, aka Yamabond is the best stuff I've found for all surfaces except the head gasket. Its made of a synthetic rubber, not silicone, It skins in minutes, and sets semi hard in 24 hours. Best of all, any excess squeezed out inside the engine will break down in the oil, before it sets, and not block things up like silicon can.
