I wanted to move the XS11SG's grabrail mounted tail light to get it out of the way of the homebuilt custom luggage rack that I'm adding and to make the holes in the grabrail available to help mount the rack.
Good ol' Andreas found me a fender-mounted rear light from a Standard, complete with it's hinged rear fender.
The Standard's fender has no dents and better chrome so on it went. (only 2 bolts out of 3 went in each side but they'll hold OK; I had to make an adapter pigtail for the light, too, but I could do that with extra plugs from my junkbox.)
The Standard fender has 2 chrome bulges tapped M6 to mount the ignition module, no problem there, I used the one that shows to help mount the rack so it looks like I thought about it.
So just put the seat back on and she's done, eh?
Afraid not, the seat latches don't reach down far enough any more.
The seats rearmost rubber bungs are now resting on the Standard fender's hinge posts and are propping the seat up too far.
So if for any reason anyone wants to put a Standard's hinged rear fender on a Special here's the fix.
There's 2 holes under the seat where those rubber bungs go.
Unplug the bungs from the rear holes and put them in the front holes.
Take an angle grinder to the rubber bungs and remove material from the annular rings until you can just see where they used to be.
The Special seat will now fit perfectly onto the Standard rear fender.

That'll get you arrested in some states.

Hey Fred. Too bad I did not know you needed those. We could have made a trade for the backrest/rack combo. I have a 78E fender and tail light assebly just sitting here doing no good to anyone. I have a few other parts here as well like fork tubes, speedo's, bars, signal lights, headlight ears, frame, engine and even a set of cases. Maybe I need to join you at the swap meet.

        Hi Prom,
we Canadians are more openminded than that. Up here the law permits a man to marry other man or a woman to marry another woman if they wish to. Oddly, the laws about single gender marriages still forbid unions between first cousins or closer.

          Hi Doug,
if you have a pile of stuff to sell or trade, bring it along and seek us out at the CVMG (SK) table; we'll save a corner for you.
Your fair share of the table fee and time in attendance, OK?

Never been to a swap meet before, just a few shows with swap stuff on the side. Might be an interesting time. I will PM ya and see what comes of it.

What's wrong with gay marriages? If a gay man wants to marry a gay woman shouldn't that be their business?
