  • Accel plug wires

Which coil terminal fires which plug when using an Accel coil? I still have my stock coils with the wires numbered. So I know that one coil fires cylinders 1 & 4 while the other coil fires 2 &3, but how do I know which terminal on the new coils fires which cylinder. The new coil has the terminals coming out of the side of the coil while the stock coils wires come out the end.

It dosen't matter. It's a "wasted spark" ignition system.
The coil produces a spark at every revolution (instead of every other revolution) so it will fire each paired cylinder.
With the "wasted spark" the plug sparks at TDC (Top Dead Center) of the compression stroke, igniting the air/fuel mixture. It also fires at TDC at the end of the exhaust stroke, before/as the air/fuel is being drawn-in (wasted spark).
This is why you can sometimes get an impressive backfire when the bike has a hard time starting.
So it dosen't matter which cylinder the plug wire connects to on the coil.
