Wish me luck guys. I'm taking the XS on her first actual bike run. So far this year everytime I plan to go on a ride something turns up broken. We're leaving at 1 and I just did a systems check on the old girl and everything seems good.... knock on wood

Good luck, hope Murphy isn't coming along for the ride. Last time I saw him was in Maryland, so you should be ok.

200 miles and 6hrs. Bike ran well, no break downs, no crashes, and held my own with the 4 Harleys. It was a good day!

Ok, I suppose I should clear this up a bit. I'm still not running even close to 100% I was faster than 3 and held my own with the slightly upgraded HD being drivin by a mad man I'm not experienced enough to hang the 35mph curves at 75. In a strait line flat out I was holding impressivly well. As per the not running 100% deal. I need to check my valve clearances, I've got a valve guide doing bad, my carbs need to be re-jeted and needles adjusted. Here is the kicker... for most of the ride I was only running on 3 holes. the #1 plug was carbon fouled pretty bad. (replaced them today huge difference) So all in all with 3/4 of my engine I was holding my own with 1 HD and screaming past 3.

Riding with Harleys is nice. You relax, have a good time, and get great fuel mileage.

after riding season comes wrenchin' season!!

hey there freak_leg....did not know you were riding a XS-750 dressed up as an XS-11!....sounds like a good time though....glad to hear you held your own!!!....a little more riding and it will be "you" that is the "mad man" of the pack....i'm sure in the next 90 days or so, wrenchin' season will be in full effect up there and that will give you plenty of time to make it righteous!!!...i have found that taking care of it and making it right really pays off in the end.....did a complete tear-down and cleaning of the carbs, put them back together, checked float levels, color-tuned, and finally vacuum check to "dial her in"....even the guy i got it off of can't believe it's that fast!.......talk 2 ya later....ride hard, ride safe....ross
