  • Tweaking Carbs

I'm just about to install a set of 4-2 Jardines on my 80 xs11g. I've seen various info and heard some mutterings about needing to re-balance, re-jet, re-whatever my carbs. Any truth to this or just a bunch of smoke & mirrors?
Anybody really know what time it is?

the stock bikes came with a dual exhaust,
so unless theres any mods to the intake,
you should be sweet to go.

The different exhaust will flow different so you should at least resync the carbs after you put them on. You may or may not have to rejet the carbs only time will really tell. Each bike reacts differently to changes. For now though you would be fine just putting the new pipes on and sync the carbs and go for it. Check your plugs every now and then and see how the jetting looks and you should be fine.

When the Jardine spaghetti 4 into 2 were installed on my 79SF I had to
richen the idle/air screws a bit and re-synch but no jetting changes were made.

Thanks for the info - I'll let you know how things work. Discovered this weekend that I need to replace all the studs with longer ones to make this work. A day with some penetrating oil should see this through.
