  • Gasket Question

So I ordered a "complete gasket set" from parts and more and the gasket set does not have the cam chain cylinder seal (yamaha fiche calls it the cylinder seal it is part number 4 on the cylinder diagram). Is it ok to reuse these, mine does not look all that great but might be ok.

    DO NOT USE THAT SEAL!
Yamaha discontinued that gasket after a redesign of the head gasket. NONE of the complete sets have that seal, as it's no longer used.

That seal has been found to be not needed and isn't in any of the kits I've found. This came to me from the parts manager of a Yamaha shop that has everything still available for these old things and they've been there since 1936.

Kinda wondered if that was the case. There was a note on the yamaha site but I couldnt find where to see what the note was.

It's good to know that I actualy did something right. I just replaced the head gasket(due to bent valves) and I didn't reuse that pice because the new gasket covered where it would have been.
