Took bike out for a short spin tonight, worked fine til I was almost home when I went to pull in clutch for a d/s it would not pull all the way. Got it home and I took off the cover(one w/2 screws) and the clutch wont move. cable is fine. I search threads and can not find a thing.

The clutch cable seized, the throwout bearing threw itself out or the clutch pack packed up.
Take off the clutch adjustment cover on the right side of the engine and see if you can lift the lever and move the clutch cable. That'll tell you if it's a stuck cable or something harder to fix!-- Scott

Got side off and took off star plate, and the big set screw in the middle of the clutch nut was out of the threads and sitting in the hole where it needs to be, sideways...I am sure this was problem, question do I go any further or can I reassemble and ride?'79 XS 1100FComment

Look up TC's clutch thread it has lots o' pictures and should help you to put it back together.

why not go the little bit more and check your friction and steels for tolerence. Check your spring lengths while your at it.mack
