  • Replacement windshield options

My windshield is scratched and nearly impossible to see thru when riding into the sun at late afternoon...I was trying to find a direct replacement for the original factory fairing...it is 24" wide and 20 7/8" tall...anyone know where I can get one? I had a link to a place that had them but I lost it during hard drive cleanup....thanks

I've polished more than one windscreen using a buffing pad on electric drill with Meguiar's Plastic Cleaner and Polish (2 products), first time I did it I was amazed how well it worked, and it didn't take very long either!

Somewhere on one of our forums, someone describes how to make a new windshield while using the original as a template. I wish I could remenber which thread it was but maybe the search feature could help. I was considering doing it, since mine is scrathed & very faded also.

            New Windscreen

I recently purchased a new replacement for my 78 XS through our accessory department at work, exact replacement for the original on a vetter fairing. Purchased a taller one with vents, paid less than $70.00. Took only one day to arrive. If you are interested email me and I'll help you get set up. By the way I don't make any money from these sales, as I sell bikes only. Just interested in helping out XSive friends. Our accessory sales team is not new to bikes at all and have helped me get many parts that i had given up on.

Dennis Kirk and JC Whitney have replacement windshields for Pacifico and Vetter fairings in different heights and with/without vent holes.
They are around $60 or so (I found out after getting a used one on Ebay for $90 )

I have made several windshields for my 80g hardbagger. I go to the local plastic shop and get a piece of LEXAN, its much stronger. Using the old orginal windsheild, I cut it out with a jigsaw using a fine blade. Some fine sanding on the edges and I have a a new one. During the summer, I use a shorter windsheild and use smoke tinted plastic, looks pretty cool. I put the tall one back on in the winter (clear). One thing to look for is industrail LEXAN, it has a UV inhibitor on one side (thats why the paper backing says "this side out". Also lexan is much stronger than plexiglass.
                When a 10 isn't enough, get a 11. 80g Hardbagger
