Those were made by Vetter Corp after Craig Vetter sold the company. The guy who designed the mods for Yamaha still makes fairings today. I actually emailed Craig to ask and got an answer from him and from the guy who did the design work (he forwarded the message to him). He doesn't have it on his sight because he didn't have any hand in it at all. Apparently there were several semi-custom ones made for Yamaha for different models, I had one once that was like a windjammer II, but the turns were running lights and it was Yamaha branded (round light as well), it came off I think and XS750 but I'm not sure this far into the future (that was 20+ years ago I had that fairing). I had it mounted on my XS400 and had a stereo and CB build into the fairing, had to put the bike on a charger at night though.

Well, poo then. I was hoping it was a real Vetter . But the speakers say Vetter Sound anyway. Hope I can at least find something to replace those with Thanks for the info, though!

It IS a real Vetter, made by Vetter Corp, just not designed by Craig Vetter. It was a modification of the Windjammer IV IIRC and the changes were to incorporate the square headlight and turn signals of the 1100 standard model. That said, mine got a Windjammer installed at the dealer and color matched to the bike either when new or shortly after. It was then ridden by a distance rider to apparently took good care of it.

It doesn't actually bother me.. I was just trying to see if a Vetter windshield would fit.. but he can't sell them in the US anyway- which is retarded, but whatever. Meh, I like the way it looks anyway

Yes, it uses the same windshield, mount and sound system. It's just the lights are such that are different. It actually IS a windjammer with custom headlight and turn signals.

As far as selling in the US, AFAIK, he sells the windshields in the US, but you can get better prices elsewhere on them. However, nobody else seems to have the problem screw sets with the top clips but him.

Hmm.. Well his site says he can only sell the windshields outside the US. Unless someone knows a way to buff them out? I was riding last night and it looked like someone washed it with a 3M scrubbing pad . Not noticable during the day, but enough that I can't see with oncoming traffic at night. Or is this just something I'll have to learn to live with? This being my first windshield on two wheels and all.. I did give it a good rainex-ing and that seemed to help a bit.

Oh, and maybe someone else is more inclined- one of my speakers isn't working. The speaker itself works when I hook it to my ipod, and the wiring looks good. Maybe just a bad channel in the radio?

Your right, it does say that. Didn't say that last time I had looked. However, what he was selling are slipstreamer windshields which are available other places online and on ebay, they may not come with the fasteners there, but you can still get them from vetter. Slipstreamer sells the windshields both with and without the vent holes, so you can order them in either style, and they have both short and tall. Any windjammer windshield will work fine.

You could also buff the one you have. You could use those headlight repair kits. Works the same.

                      Hi Sam,
Using Paper towels will do tat too. Try cleaning with lots of detergent and sof cotton cloth with plent of water. look at teh Auto store for "Headlight cleanig kit" Mine was made in Germany and cost a lot. Includes 1500 water paper a cloth and cleaner compound. follow the instructions and lots of "elbow grease" will give you back clear vision.

You can get those kits for as little as 8 bucks. 12 though seems to be the norm.

Thanks, I'll give it a shot. I had to take the fairing off because the speedometer cable decided to unscrew itself. I put a dab of thread locker on it last night, so this morning I'm going to clean up the front end and get everything buttoned back up.
