I had a water leak at the house so I bought one of these to locate it. This thing is great to "look" inside your XS with your ears also. You can adj volume and pinpoint any noise, bearing or tapping, to just where it is comming from, hope it helps someone else also. Ok, before someone tells me how much cheaper there long extenion or screwdriver is, I have used both and there is no comparsion.

You can also get a mechanics stethoscope which is basically the same thing you got there just costs about 5 dollars. I will agree that the electronic ones are WAY better though. I must say though I have never had a problem with a decent quality mechanics stethoscope.Nathan

Just trying to pass on a great tool IMHO, not trying to sell or change anyone. After 30+ years of mech. work and using everything from a long screwdriver to a Doc's tool, I just tried to help "some" with issues find help. Sorry I passed it on, thought it might help some.1979 XS1100 Special (Mad Max, OEM) Current

No apology necessary
that gadget should work well for those of us who suffer partial hearing loss through spending years in high noise environments.

That looks perfect. I need something that's louder than my tinnitus, the imaginary engine sounds and the voices!-- Scott

All jokes aside, I too suffer from severe tinnitus so any aid to help with internal noises has got to be good. Like many others, I've used everything from the long screwdriver to a medical stepthescope. But as I get older the nosies are getting quieter and more sensitive listening devices are needed.
Pretty soon they'll get that quiet that I cant hear them at all, then the problem will be solved, right???1980 SG. (Sold - waiting on replacement)

Oh, yeah ... I'm just beginning to be affected by tinnitus and hearing loss but it's not going to get better from here on out and amplification is just the ticket!-- Scott
