Thanks a lot. I think I should have everything else. The switch I have would have worked, it just isn't '78 vintage.

I had issues with this harness before, and was able to repair around it. I guess it just wasn't up to the task.

I think the park light wire shorted behind the licence plate, and that is what fried everything. The blue wire you can see in the fuzzy picture is the park light wire that goes to the front park lights. I assume it is melted the entire length.

The white connector you can see in the other picture is half missing.

I do have the rear light wiring here. I almost sent it just because, but the Wife (God bless her soul) mailed everything today while I was at work. If you need the rear light wiring I can send it but it will be a few days behind what I sent.

As long as the harness goes to the tailight housing, I should be ok. The light bar wiring wasn't hurt.

It looks like the connector where the bar plugs into shorted out.

Of course this circuit in on the 30 amp main fuse so the wiring went first.

The rear most connection I undid while getting the harness off was just before the wiring went into the rear fender. Let me know if that will work or I can get the wiring from there back to the tail light sent ASAP.

Not sure what you mean. All that burnt off wiring IS the rear most wiring...

You can see the last white plug there all burnt to crap. The wiring is fried right into the space under the tail light.

You can see where the rear shock is and the rear grab handle. You will have to be the judge of what you sent.

I never thought about what is left inside the taillight housing, but I should have a spare on the 80G.

Until I saw the pics, (which was after the main wiring harness was in the mail), I did not realize how far the damage went back. Guess I should have read closer. I will get the tail light part of it off tonight and send it.

Hey, no problem, I really appreciate all the work you're doing for me!

As I was saying it looks like the short occured where the signal light bar ( the one you put on with saddlebags) connects to the tail light harness, so all the rear wiring is what took the brunt of it.

The rest was mailed out tonight. You now have everything I had left for wiring except the pick up coil wires and the starter solenoid. Hopefully you will have all you need.
