I just put the shocks i bought from a. weiss on the bike and sat on it, and well, it didn't budge...had my 350lbs buddy sit, nothing. I am not saying ANYTHING negative about the service a. weiss provided, its no big deal really. was wondering if there were any tips, tricks or advice to get these things to move. can i soak them in anything? they have a fair amount of dirt in the top circle moving thing, no idea what its for, dampening? i figure they just need to be cleaned up, are these hard to take apart? they are off a std. thanks!

Make sure the springs are set on the softest setting. Other than that, if they don't compress when you are on it, send a pm to andreas. He is VERY GOOD about selling WORKING parts, and if something went wrong, he usually will make it right in a hurry.
You also need to check the swing arm. If the bearings are bad on it, then the shocks won't make any difference. NOTHING WILL MOVE!

i actually removed the center stand when i was working on this pig, so, yupperz, it was on its own! funny comment though, lol. I have one original shock that was holding the back up, and it compressed...a little too much which is why i bought new ones, so, kinda feels like i put solid struts on...it'll all work out though, i'll talk to andreas and see whats up. thanks for the laugh though, glad i wasnt drinking coffee, can't be good for a keyboard.1980 Yamaha XS 1100 SG

they both do the same thing, nothing. lol. I talked to andreas and things are being taken care of, im sure many of you have dealt with him so you already know this, but extremely prompt in returning PM's and very understanding. I am very appreciative of people like that, thats what makes this forum great. One more thing, i found a shop that carries the brake pads for the bike, they are $30 a paid, so i need 3, which is obviously $90, is that about average? anyone know?1980 Yamaha XS 1100 SG

this thing is up and running like a maniac. wiring still needs to be cleaned up, needs new front brakes, replaced the rear. the only thing is, with the drag bars, it handles like crrraaappp. which im sure is due to the bars, heavy bike, pushing down on the bars. i think im going to throw a stablizer on it. maybe that'll fix it a little, its just a little around town hopper.1980 Yamaha XS 1100 SG
