Does anyone know about these oval pod filters from (carb kit capital) on ebay, they sell for 49.95 a set.
What I am wondering is if any one here has got any of these from them and if they have that lip in the inside that restricks the air jet in the back of the carb.

    Hi Bob,
    they look like these?

I recently fitted 4 of them to the XS11SG to replace the UNIpods which were getting to look all ratty.
Mikes pods do not have a flow-restricting lip and the bike runs just fine. The embossed XS on the ends looks neat too.

I just put a set of the Mikes XS on my XS11 to help correct a rich condition. I did not want to take the carbs apart because they were working flawless except for the rich condition. The pod filters work great and have corected the problem. I also picked up 3 or do MPG. Also for what its worth I rode in some very heavy rain, 2 days wroth, along the Sklyline drive and Blueridge Parkway since and had no problems with the rain.

Don't know about the pods, but if they've got a lip you can probably shave it off over the air jet. Carb Kits Capital is the same as Partsnmore. I got some carb kits from them a while back, and the invoice even said partsnmore on it. I'm sure you'll be fine with the CKC pods, but your jetting looks kind of screwy. Stock you should have had 42.5 pilots, and with the mods you would expect that to be more like 45's. I had 145 mains in when I changed from a drilled air box to pods, and needed to bump them to 147.5 to get it back in the blue on my colortune. How did you arrive at the current jetting?
I think I have a loose screw behind the handlebars.

I gess I should change that, that is the bike that got put on the back burner last year that never got off the ground, i have another runing motor that i am going to put in it and i have not got into the carbs on it yet because it runs, came out of a wrecked 1980 special, and who knows what jets are in it, but I realy do need to check and see what they are because i am going to use the pods and the 4 into 1 header, i have about three prodjects going at the same time and I bounce from one to the outher,

              Something to check

If the carbs came off an 80 special and the carbs are stock for the 80 motor, then you have one of two types of carbs. Most of them have the BS34III's, but there are some that have a bastardized variety that are a cross between the II's and III's. When you've got the carbs off, take a look inside the pilot jet tower and see if there is a little orifice that runs to the main jet tower. If there is then the pilot jet tower needs to be plugged to operate correctly. I went around and around with a set on an 80SG last summer, and finally noticed the orifice. Might explain the weird jetting. JAT
