  • I now have spark, but its just not starting

Thanks to everyone for helping me get the spark back on my bike. I ended up cleaning some connections and double checked the gaps on my plugs as well. That helped! Now I have spark, but it just doesnt start. It sounds like its about to idle, but never really catches on. Its been maybe 2 months since its I ran it. Any suggestions??

have you checked your ignition coils to make sure they are putting out an adequate spark?

    Have the carbs been cleaned?

    What is your battery voltage?

Do you have the choke on? and when your trying to start it are you JUST pressing the starter button. Sometimes when I start my bike I roll on the throttle a bit to open up the butterfly valve and then it takes off.

I had the choke on, then half way, the carbs were cleaned out a few months ago. I did try to roll on the throttle a little. I guess I could check the coils. I am pretty sure they are putting out enough spark, but nothing wrong with a double check!

A couple months of sitting can sometimes gunk them up. Its not that hard to do so I would recommend pulling them off and checking just so that you can say for sure that the carbs are still clean.

I know it sucks but all you can do sometimes it figure out what isnt wrong

Also, with all the electrical work you were doing to check for spark and cleaning of the connectors, you may have crossed up your coils. Try disconnecting the orange and grey feed wires to the coils and swapping them out. See if it starts.

I double checked the gaps on the plugs and cleaned them up a little bit, then cleaned some connections. Also, I charged my battery for a few hours. I guess my battery wasnt fully charged, even though my DMM gave me 12.8v! I was going to take it for a ride today but the freakin rain wont stop!
