  • Horn not Working

    Hey Guys,

I just realized that my horn isn't working. It seemed to have been working fine about two weeks ago, and then I got on it yesterday and was driving down the street, and realized it didn't work. I checked the fuses and they look fine, anyone have any ideas?

Horns are pretty simple. You have two wires to it. One is a hot wire and the other goes to the horn button. The horn button completes the circuit and makes the noise. Check your wires to the horn. If they are both connected and the connections are clean, check your horn button and make sure it is not corroded at the contact end.

I don't have my horn in front of me, but some horns have an adjustment screw on the back. It can corrode inside the horn and sometimes turning that adjustment screw can make them work again. Turn it a little, one way or the other.

And sometimes 30-year-old electrical equipment dies. It's the circle of life.

My horn didn't work. Bike was run over by a Kenworth (I was driving the truck that ran over my bike). Horn works now.

I think it knocked off corrosion between the horn button which goes to ground.

Sounds like a pretty extreme repair, Pat. I'd probably just go without a horn.

              Fixed it

Incubus, you were correct. Somehow one of my wires were disconnected but I got it going again so we're good there. Thanks a bunch.

Having this problem too. Haven't been bothered by this since blipping the throttle gets a lot better attention response than hitting the wimpy Jap horn. But a working horn is required for June inspection, so it's gotta be fixed.

that sucks that you have to have inspection on your bike. Get something that will get peoples attention instead of the little tweet that the stock horn puts out!

In the land where "live free or die" translates to "don't tax me", the townies have to make their revenue somehow. This translates to high vehicle registration fees and aggressive traffic enforcement. Let's all be careful out there!

I wouldn't mind getting a more powerful horn, where can I get one?

Interesting, how exactly does that mount, anyone have any pictures? I went to their website and seen lots of nice products but no actual pictures of how it looks.
