  • Cam chain adjuster

on my Venturer will no longer hold in place. Bout on the fourth time hittin the key and start-up, adjuster slips and it sounds like an ole' push-rod Hardley. Aware I could heli-coil the housing, but at this point would rather replace with and XVZ self adjuster. Just checkin here first to see if anyone has an extra that needs to be put to use and would be willing to sell it. Thanks, Brant.

Installed the Royale self adjusting tensioner today that I picked up locally at a bike shop. also, just for grins looked up new price on one........yeah, Yammy just had another 20% price increase first of week.....at a buck and a half for one, glad I was able to aquire one for $20. Thanks again for the offer though rowdyboy321!

        pretty easy right

I have one on the 78 and it sure is nice not having the drippy nose syndrome and how about never adjusting until you need a new cam chain?
any ways How was the drive home Brant ? It was cool meeting you and that 81 sure is sweet . I am currently trying to figure out How I would make it out to colorado maybe I could hitch a ride on Soccer4m's bike trailer

Thanks Garth! Made a two day drive out of it back home. Easier than jammin' the 15hr run out there. Got the fuel levels corrected on the ole' scoot. Since the cam and sprocket set-up on the XS are a far cry from anything "trick", the closest we can come to any type of indexing thing is to have "0" slack at any time in that chain. Sure throws everything else off, carbs, vacuum for advance aside from valves being out of time. That stock retainer set-up can be pushed back ever so slightly and have no way of knowing it till it moves far enough the top-end sounds like a thrashing machine, idles poorly, hang idle, hesitation upon accell, poor fuel economy, etc., and that's all before the losenesss is audible.........hmmmmm, sound all too familiar! At any and all engine speed, it is now as smooth as it was when new. Think the self-adjuster will help it stay that way. Due to interest voiced at the CalyRally, I soon will post some pics I took a week ago up where the air is thin, the views endless, and the newly overlayed wide twisty roads ARE a hoot and most all of them have a progressive sight distance! So plan on bungy-cording yourself and your scoot to Soccer4m's trailer, pointing it towards Durango,Colo. and tenting on manicured grass at the United Campground(a long-time friend and fellow off-roader owns)and RV park. They also have a website. More to come shortly! Plus ANYTIME this summer/fall, anyone wandering or riding towards the WesternSlope of Colo., feel free to contact me and wife if assistance is needed, place to stay/eat, or a fellow rider/guide on some of the best riding routes to be found anywhere!

well I guess we have some planning to do . its a long haul but we can switch drivers and make it there in on long day , a couple of days there and the trip back sounds like 5-7 days . I think I will need clearance from air traffic control(swmbo)
