I am new to this forum, just got myself 1984 XS1.1 Shafty.

Welcome Silvertwist. Sounds like you have the Euro version of the Special model.

For manuals, one of our members, Catatonic Bug, has his own website where he has the manuals for you to download. Find a post by him or go to his member page and link to his website. Not sure they specifically cover the Euro models, but I would suspect mostly cosmetic differences.

Also there is a UK version of this site as well, they may have the manual on the Euro version.

All I have to go by is the VIN listing on this site. There is no listing for ANY model after '81 other than an XJ. What years were the 1.1 European model produced?

They where sold here upto 1986 ish in South Africa, mine is the 1984 model.

Took the rear seat of last night as the petrol gauge was not working, to remove the tank, found a dodgy connection, fixed it up properly now that is working 100% ( after I spilled a 1/4 of tank petrol all over me )

Now all needs to be done is the Display lights, they not getting any power, will trace the problem friday night as I am working late tonight.

Also need to check the drive shaft oils etc, as the bike was standing for over a year, got the bike last week.

Gots lots of plans for the bike, want to make it look original as possible but also practical and easy on the eyes!

Will def get is painted black again with gold inserts.

Thanks to everyone here so far, it has helped alot.

I am a sucker for old classic bikes.
Dont like the new supper fast uncomfy bikes, nothing like cruising 120 km/h on the highway in style and comfy.

                        Regards
