  • oil filter source

Has anyone found a source for oil filters, other than a dealer?
I got two numbers, one for Fram, one for Purolator.

    Fram CH6002
    Purolator ML16805
Wix 24933 (Just found this one)

Ten bucks seems a little steep for a filter, but then I remember when a milk nickle cost, uh, oh, never mind.
And while I'm asking questions, does anyone know where to buy the little plastic plugs that go in the allen wrench socket holes to keep the dirt out? There are four on the handle bar clamp, and one on the fill plug on the rear gear case.
    Thanks for any leads, CZ

I don't know about in your area, but I get mine at Kragen's auto parts. Of course you can get them for about 20% more at Cyclegear too.

    OEM Luggage Rack
    Jardine Spaghetti 4-2 exhaust system

    750 FD Mod
TC Spin on Oil Filter Adapter (temp removed)

Hi again, you are a font of knowledge.
Checker is the analouge of Kragen's in this area, (Denver), and I checked with one of the Checkers store, and he said that he doesn't list it in his system.
Do you have to special order it at Kragens? And what does it cost?
I can go there tomorrow and get with the manager to see what can be done.
      Thanks again, CZ

I buy mine at Advance Auto parts, Fram CH6002. They stock them on the shelf.

Put on one of TC's spin on adapters and you can get oil filters almost anywhere...

Yep, it's on my list. With my next engine I'll have to paint it black to match the engine though, and then paint the filters too.

I've already painted my SOFA black and I'm going to pick up a spare filter to paint black. My engine is still aluminum color but I plan to black it out later on... The SOFA and the hydraulic clutch adapter plate are the first 2 black parts going on the engine...

Here is a link to the thread on the SOFA. When I look at it ti seems to be intended for an oil cooler application. Perhaps TC or someone can clarify if the cooler is a requirement to use this.

                              Oil Filter

Fairfield Cycle carries O.E.M. oil filters. $10 bucks a pop. I bought the last 3. Parts are getting more scarce. I did use the Fram filters
