• squirral incident

So for thoughs of you who haven't been keeping up with Hemes's resurrection, I had an incident where my dog cornered a squirral in my work shop right after I'd laid out my carb parts. They got scattered and I have no idea what jets went into which carbs. However after colour tuning and carb tuning today he is working real , real goooood. So anyway I checked the turns for future reference and and here is what I got.#1, 1 3/4, #2, 1.1/4, #3 1.3/4 and #4 0.3/4, Being a betting man I'd say that the parts from #'s 1&3 matched ok but #2 & #4 got mixed. Probably explain the slight stagger at low RPM. He's working good enough not to switch them back this summer but in the winter. I figure I'll play some checkers after I put new rings in.Anybody concur with this?

Honestly, those setting sare all close enough I would be hard pressed to say you have anything in the wrong spot.

Ive mixed many parts between carbs
without any problems what so ever,
have you sync the carbs yet, if not
do that, then recheck ur mixture screws.

also if your floats werent set exactly the same between carbs,
could give you a slight difference with mix screw settings.

You might want to replace that #4 idle screw. If it is really giving the same mixture with a full turn less, it sounds like it got smashed. So much for lightly seated...

replaceable, parts

ANY replacement parts on carbs are REPLACEABLE, ergo matching and keeping separate is of no concern on rebuilding.
However you must tune and sync for the carbs to run right and that operation eliminates any discrepancy between parts and makes all things equal.
Factory tolerances allow tuning and syncs to make up for mismatched parts. This is true an any replaceable part.
My $$ worth on this argument.
