  • wires on tc fuse block

Got one of TC fuse block and it mounts awesome on my xj.

Tc sent me a message re method on how to crimp wires on leads as they are right angle and my crimper doesnt fit on there and it is a little of a challenge to get enough plier pressure on it to crimp right, maybe I just need to get different pliers or squeeze harder. sent a pm to TC but dont know if he is around.

Trying to get xj on road today, anybody know the trick or link.

Fuse block is great though and mount worked out is gonna be great and will put picture of mount on her if I can ever figure out how to put a picture on here.

I think maybe a different pair of crimpers is the solution, can you post pictures of what you've got?

I used right angle "flag" type connectors when I did the fuse box mod and didn't have any trouble getting good crimps with my pliers. I however am no electrical guru, maybe geezer will happen by here, he seems to know a lot of "tricks" when it comes to this stuff...

      fuse block

Hey Night, I just did mine. I used a pair of vice grip pliers. Open them up about a millimeter or so and go for it. Just stay up on the area where the wire is. When I finished I put clear rtv in the plastic cover where the wire went in.

I used vice grips (that's what TC recommended). Set them so there's about 1mm between the jaws, and crush only the part of the connector that fits over the stripped wire end.

        Good luck!

Yeah, thats right, I knew TC recommended something that normally I would not use and now I remember it was the vice grips.

The block mounts great on the battery box of my xj with machine screws comming out of the battery box and the round heads glued in toward the battery so i can just screw nuts on and off to take it off. there are clearance problems re taking the wire plugs on and off up and down but it takes ten seconds to screw the nuts off and get it off to work with it. I am thinking about running the main power through it also and eliminating or pre fusing the main fuse with a smaller fuse also.

the application is so perfect i would like to put a picture on here when done but cant figure out how to do that. thanks guys

take a look in the "forum how to" section there should be a thread in there that explains how to post pictures.

Ok, thanks reefer Ill check it out, someone told me one time but being less than a computer genius, probably not to level of dummy yet, it didnt stick and couldnt figure out what they were talking about. I actually have been planning to do my yearly motorcycle cruise around the west mountains and desert this summer if I can get the xj to where it needs to be. Had thoughts about getting into Nevada and would say hi on way by if you were around, but now the summers getting here looks like I am going to have to avoid the desert and end up staying in the colorado rockies where it is cooler.

                Hi nightpilot,
what you need is someone that's dumber than you to explain it.
This list won't accept photos sent from your computer.
You gotta post your photos on a public site.
I use photobucket but there are several others.
When your photos are on that site, (they do have detailed instructions on how to upload) you can post them from there.
Bookmark the photo site so your search engine can find and open it.
                Start typing your post.
Minimise the screen (hit the little minus sign box) so you can see all the icons again.
Open your search engine and then open whatever photo site you are using.
                Pick a photo.
Use the mouse to put the arrow thingie onto the photo you want to post.
It will turn into a hand-shaped thingie and a bunch of little boxes will appear below the photo.
You want the bottom one, called IMG Code.
Slide the hand thingie down to it, carefully left-click, hold down and swipe across to get the complete code (it's a long line of writing in a very short box.)
When the IMG Code has all gone blue, use Ctrl + c to put it in your computer's short term memory.
Now open your post up to full screen again.
Use Ctrl + v to put the link into your post.

Well if you do get out this way your welcome to stop by, and this goes for all the forum members, just shoot me a pm and I'll give you my cell number and we can figure out the details "off line"...
